Mongolia At Eurovision Asia 2026 โ€” MNC, Mongolia's Chosen One and the Last Ticket to Bangkok

Mongolia is the eleventh country confirmed for Eurovision Asia 2026 and the last to select. Mongolia's Chosen One airs 10 October under a 40/40/20 vote, leaving just five weeks to the Bangkok Grand Final.

Betting Angle
No market exists on Eurovision Asia yet. Mongolia is the participant most likely to be priced on assumption when books open, being the last to select (10 October) with no Eurovision history and only five weeks of runway to Bangkok. Distinctive musical identity is a genuine asset in a contest that rewards sounding like nowhere else; a small diaspora is a genuine drag in one where the public holds half the Grand Final vote.

Mongolia is the eleventh and most recent country confirmed for the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia, and the only one added since the contest launched with ten. MNC confirmed participation on 14 August 2026, three months before the Grand Final in Bangkok.

It is also the last country to select. Mongolia's Chosen One airs on Saturday 10 October 2026 at 21:00 local time (15:00 CEST), which puts barely five weeks between Mongolia naming its act and that act performing in Bangkok on 14 November.

The selection

Show: Mongolia's Chosen One ยท Broadcaster: MNC ยท Date: 10 October 2026, 21:00 local / 15:00 CEST. It streams worldwide on the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel, like every Eurovision Asia national selection.

MNC confirmed the voting format on 23 August 2026: 40% jury, 40% Mongolian public vote, 20% international public vote. That is the same 40/40/20 split used by Bhutan and the Philippines โ€” three confirmations now, which makes it the effective Eurovision Asia default rather than a one-off.

Note the distinction that trips up a lot of coverage: 40/40/20 is the national final format. The Bangkok Grand Final on 14 November is a straight 50% jury / 50% public, with no Rest of the World component of its own.

Why the late slot matters

Every other country has between six weeks and three months to build a staging, shoot promo, and get its song heard before the contest. Mongolia has five weeks, and it is competing for attention against ten acts that will already have been circulating.

The Rest of the World vote makes that concrete rather than abstract. A fifth of every Eurovision Asia national final is decided by an international audience watching the selections in sequence โ€” but for the Grand Final itself, familiarity is built over the whole autumn. An act revealed on 10 October has the least runway of anyone to build it.

The betting angle

No operator has opened a book on Eurovision Asia or on any of its national finals, and there are no Eurovision Asia markets on Polymarket. When prices do appear โ€” most likely once the field completes in mid-October โ€” Mongolia is the participant most likely to be priced on nothing.

That cuts both ways. A late-confirmed country with no Eurovision history and a song nobody has heard is the definition of a market priced on assumption rather than evidence. Whether that makes it an overlay or a trap depends entirely on what turns up on 10 October, and anyone claiming to know before then is guessing.

Two structural notes worth carrying in. Mongolia has a genuinely distinctive musical identity โ€” throat singing and the morin khuur are internationally recognisable in a way most of the field is not โ€” and Eurovision audiences have historically rewarded acts that sound like nowhere else. Against that, Mongolia's diaspora is small relative to the Philippines or South Korea, which matters in a contest where a fifth of national-final scoring and half the Grand Final is public.
