Mongolia will be represented at the first Eurovision Song Contest Asia by Beck. The broadcaster MNC named him internally on Thursday 1 October 2026 and will pick his song separately, at a show called Mongolia’s Chosen One on Saturday 10 October, where the public votes on a shortlist he performs himself. Mongolia is the ninth of the eleven participating countries to name an act, and the last of the three to split the artist decision from the song decision.

Key takeaways

  • Beck was chosen internally. No national final, no public vote on the artist — the broadcaster decided and announced it in a video on 1 October.
  • The song is still open. Beck performs a shortlist of candidate songs on 10 October at 15:00 CEST (21:00 in Ulaanbaatar) and the public picks the winner. Mongolian and international viewers can both vote, and the show streams on the Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel.
  • Mongolia confirmed 40/40/20 for its selection back on 23 August — 40% jury, 40% domestic public, 20% international.
  • He is a presenter on the network that picked him. Beck hosts at CNBC Mongolia, the channel the organisers name as staging the selection show. That is worth stating plainly rather than leaving in a footnote.
  • Mongolia is the cheapest contract on the only board that prices this contest, and the only one of the eleven whose ask is not absurd: 6¢ last, no bid, 15¢ ask on Kalshi.

Who is Beck?

Beck — Beck Munkhbayar — debuted as a singer in 2007 and has spent nearly two decades working across music, acting, hosting, modelling and production. He studied economics at the University of Mongolia and works as a television host at CNBC Mongolia. He has also described himself as an adviser to Mongolia’s Deputy Prime Minister. The organisers introduce him as “an artist, performer and storyteller at heart” whose aim is to leave an impression “not only as an entertainer, but as someone who brings positivity, elegance and genuine energy”.

In the announcement video he said he has been dreaming about Eurovision since he first watched it 26 years ago, and that standing on a Eurovision stage became a childhood ambition. That dates his first contest to roughly 2000 — a long way, geographically and otherwise, from a Mongolian television career.

What is not yet public is the music. Beck has no internationally released catalogue to read, no charting single to point at, and no song for Bangkok. Anyone forming a view on Mongolia’s entry before 10 October is forming it on a biography.

How Mongolia chose, and who chose him

Most of this season’s eleven countries ran a national final that picked artist and song together. Three did not. Malaysia named Aina Abdul internally on 15 August and has still not released her song. Laos named Thinla internally and then let the public pick between candidate songs on Sieng Lao: The One. Vietnam named Tóc Tiên internally and releases five candidate songs for a public vote on 3 October. Mongolia has taken the Laos and Vietnam route: artist by the broadcaster, song by the public.

Mongolia was the eleventh and last country to confirm participation, on 14 August 2026, and the last to be given a selection date. It has had the shortest runway of any entry in the field, and it is using it to decide the two halves of the entry separately.

What happens on 10 October

Mongolia’s Chosen One runs on Saturday 10 October at 15:00 CEST, 21:00 Ulaanbaatar time. Beck performs the candidate songs himself and viewers vote on which he takes to Bangkok. The organisers say both Mongolian and international audiences can vote, and that the show is available on the Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel.

The weighting is the one every national selection this season has used: 40% jury, 40% domestic public, 20% rest of world, confirmed for Mongolia by Eurovoix on 23 August and set out in clause 8.1 of the official Voting Terms. Note that this is not the Grand Final rule, which is a straight 50/50 between public and jury under clause 8.2 — a distinction most of the fan press got wrong for most of this season. Our voting guide covers both.

MNC or CNBC Mongolia? A naming disagreement

Two sources describe Mongolia’s broadcaster differently, and we would rather say so than pick one. The organisers’ participation announcement and Eurovoix both name MNC; Eurovoix expands it as “Mongolia National Broadcasting”, which is not the state broadcaster MNB. The organisers’ own article about Beck instead names CNBC Mongolia as the channel staging Mongolia’s Chosen One. Both can be true if CNBC Mongolia is the channel and MNC the company behind it, but nobody has published that relationship, so we are not going to assert it.

What is not in dispute is that Beck hosts on CNBC Mongolia. A broadcaster choosing a presenter from its own network, without a public vote, is a fair thing for viewers to notice — it was the first reaction in the Eurovision fan community when the announcement landed. It is not disqualifying, and internal selections have produced plenty of strong entries in Europe. It is simply a fact about this entry that belongs next to the biography rather than buried under it.

The betting position on Mongolia

No fixed-odds bookmaker prices Eurovision Asia, and Polymarket has never listed it. One venue does: Kalshi, the CFTC-regulated US exchange, whose eleven-country winner market opened on 14 September. We set out how that market settles and why its numbers are not odds when it opened.

Read on 1 October 2026, Mongolia last traded at 6¢ with no bid — but with an ask of 15¢, which makes it the one contract on the board you could buy at a sane price. Every other country is offered between 80¢ and 95¢. That is not a view about Mongolia; it is a single resting offer on a board where the last 24 hours produced zero trades across all eleven contracts, and where lifetime volume is 3,277 contracts with Laos accounting for roughly three quarters of it.

Worth repeating, because it keeps being misread: the eleven last-traded marks sum to 143% of a field in which exactly one country wins. They are eleven prints from eleven different moments, not a book with an overround. If you want a number you could act on, read the bid and the ask. On Mongolia that is 0¢ / 15¢, and on most of the field there is no bid at all.

Compare that with the European contest’s winner market, which closed at nearly $194M of Polymarket volume, or with the bookmakers we track, none of which has opened an Asia market at all.

What is left to decide

DateCountryWhat happens
3 OctoberVietnamThe Sound of Vietnam — public picks Tóc Tiên’s song from five candidates
7 OctoberNepalNepal Decides — artist and song, Himalaya TV
10 OctoberMongoliaMongolia’s Chosen One — public picks Beck’s song
17 OctoberCambodiaCambodia’s Finest Voice — artist and song, TV5 Cambodia

With Beck named, two countries still have no artist at all: Nepal, which decides on 7 October, and Cambodia on 17 October. Six of the eleven have a complete entry. The Eurovision Asia hub tracks the running state of the field, and the Mongolia country page carries the detail on this entry.
