Of the 25 Eurovision 2026 Grand Finalists, the pre-contest Spotify streaming chart (cumulative streams from each song's release through 10 May 2026, sourced from Aussievision's weekly chart) crowned a clear leader: Italy's Per Sempre Sì by Sal Da Vinci, with 25.4 million streams. The actual Grand Final finish: 5th.

Below, the five entries Spotify said would win Eurovision 2026 — and what actually happened.
The pre-contest Spotify top 5 vs Vienna 2026 finish
| Spotify rank | Country | Cumulative streams (to 10 May) | Grand Final finish | Drop |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 🇮🇹 Italy — Sal Da Vinci, Per Sempre Sì | 25,432,578 | 5th | −4 |
| 2 | 🇸🇪 Sweden — FELICIA, My System | 18,561,211 | 20th | −18 |
| 3 | 🇫🇮 Finland — Linda Lampenius x Pete Parkkonen, Liekinheitin | 12,325,472 | 6th | −3 |
| 4 | 🇩🇰 Denmark — Søren Torpegaard Lund, Før Vi Går Hjem | 5,661,234 | 7th | −3 |
| 5 | 🇨🇾 Cyprus — Antigoni, JALLA | 5,596,796 | 19th | −14 |
And the winner? Pre-contest streaming rank: 9
| Spotify rank | Country | Cumulative streams (to 10 May) | Grand Final finish | Gain |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9 | 🇧🇬 Bulgaria — DARA, Bangaranga | 3,116,771 | 1st | +8 |
DARA had less than one-eighth the pre-contest streaming volume of Italy. By 17 May 2026 (~24 hours after the final), Bangaranga's Spotify count had multiplied — but the Saturday-night televote and jury voting was decided before any of that catch-up streaming happened.
The 5 biggest streaming-to-result drops
| Country | Spotify rank | Final finish | Drop |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🇸🇪 Sweden | 2 | 20th | −18 |
| 🇩🇪 Germany | 8 | 23rd | −15 |
| 🇨🇾 Cyprus | 5 | 19th | −14 |
| 🇦🇹 Austria | 10 | 24th | −14 |
| 🇮🇹 Italy | 1 | 5th | −4 |
And the 5 biggest streaming-to-result gains
| Country | Spotify rank | Final finish | Gain |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🇷🇴 Romania | 10 (weekly, ~340K) | 3rd | +7 |
| 🇲🇩 Moldova | 11 (weekly, ~281K) | 8th | +3 |
| 🇧🇬 Bulgaria | 9 | 1st | +8 |
| 🇺🇦 Ukraine | 33 (weekly, ~113K) | 9th | +24 |
| 🇦🇺 Australia | 14 (weekly, ~239K) | 4th | +10 |
Ukraine's LELÉKA was ranked 33rd of the 35 entries in the weekly Spotify chart heading into the contest — and finished 9th overall. A 24-position gain. The largest Spotify-to-Eurovision overperformance of any 2026 entry.
Why streaming doesn't predict Eurovision (and never has)
Three structural reasons the Spotify-to-Eurovision pipeline fails:
- Pre-contest streams correlate with broadcaster promotion, not vote conversion. Italy's pre-contest streaming dominance reflects Sal Da Vinci's prior Sanremo win and RAI's industrial-grade music-marketing apparatus. That apparatus does not vote on Eurovision Saturday night. The Eurovision audience comprises casual viewers across 35 countries who watch the show and react to live performance — a fundamentally different cohort from the engaged Spotify listener pre-show.
- Streaming weights national markets disproportionately. Sal Da Vinci's 25.4M streams will be dominated by Italian-language listeners in Italy. The other 34 voting countries' jury and televote pools do not skew Italian. Streaming success in one large national market does not translate to 35-country distributed appeal.
- Live performance dominates Saturday night. Bulgaria's Bangaranga was a stage-spectacle entry — choreography, energy, vocal control under live conditions. Spotify cannot measure stage presence. The Eurovision audience measures little else.
What the 2026 numbers say to 2027 bettors
Three structural lessons for pricing Eurovision 2027 outright markets:
- Heavily discount entries whose pre-contest streaming is concentrated in one national market. If 70%+ of the entry's Spotify listeners are domestic, the entry will under-convert at Eurovision. Italy, Sweden, Cyprus, Germany and Austria all hit this pattern in 2026.
- Pay close attention to mid-pack streaming entries that have international Spotify diaspora signals. Bulgaria's pre-contest 3.1M was modest in absolute terms — but DARA's ADHDARA album (2025) had been picked up by Balkan-diaspora listeners across Germany, UK, Sweden and Italy. Mid-pack streaming + diaspora geographic spread is the streaming pattern that actually correlates with Eurovision performance.
- YouTube live-performance views are a more useful signal than Spotify. Bulgaria's Grand Final LIVE video on the EBU YouTube channel pulled 1.4M views in 11 hours; Malta's pulled 1.3M from a much smaller national base. Those are real signals about audience engagement with the live performance, not with a pre-released studio track.
